How eBay UK postage prices work

Most private sellers on eBay.co.uk post with Simple Delivery. eBay suggests a parcel size based on similar items, you confirm it, and when the item sells you get a prepaid label or QR code. The buyer pays the postage at checkout, unless you offer free postage. The label price depends on three things:

Parcel size and weight. Large letter, small parcel or medium parcel, in weight bands up to 20kg.
The final sale price. Five bands, from under £75 up to £750.
The couriers you allow. All couriers is the cheapest. Excluding a courier in your Postage Preferences raises the price.

Click & Collect prices

The buyer picks the parcel up from a locker, parcel shop or Post Office. These prices are the same whatever the item sells for. At least one of Royal Mail, Evri or InPost must be on in your Postage Preferences for buyers to see the option.

Parcel sizes and limits

Large letter: up to 35.3 x 25 x 2.5 cm.
Small parcel: up to 45 x 35 x 16 cm and 2kg.
Medium parcel: up to 61 x 46 x 46 cm and 20kg. This is also the Royal Mail maximum.
Simple Delivery maximum: 30kg and 120 x 80 x 80 cm. eBay publishes prices up to 20kg.

If you pick a smaller size than eBay recommends and the parcel turns out bigger, you can be charged the difference plus a £1 admin fee. If you keep eBay's recommended size, you are not charged extra.

Business sellers

Simple Delivery is only for private sellers. Business sellers set their own postage prices and can buy discounted labels through eBay for Royal Mail, Evri, DPD, Yodel, InPost, UPS, DHL and Parcelforce. Check what eBay takes from each sale with the UK eBay fee calculator.

How much does postage cost on eBay UK?

With Simple Delivery and all couriers selected, a small parcel up to 1kg costs £2.94 for an item that sells for under £75, and a 2-10kg parcel costs £5.21. The price goes up with the sale price, to £11.76 for a 2-10kg parcel selling for £375 to £750.

What is eBay Simple Delivery?

Simple Delivery is eBay's delivery service for private sellers in the UK. eBay suggests the parcel size when you list, and after the sale you get a prepaid label or QR code with tracking. You post it with Royal Mail, Evri, InPost or DHL.

Do I have to use Simple Delivery?

For private sellers it is the delivery method for eligible items: a Buy It Now or starting price of £750 or less, up to 30kg and 120 x 80 x 80 cm. It is optional for items of £20 or less in some categories, such as trading cards, coins, stamps, phone cases, CDs and DVDs. Mobile phones priced over £300 are not eligible.

Why does the postage price depend on the sale price?

eBay sets Simple Delivery prices in five sale price bands: under £75, £75 to £100, £100 to £150, £150 to £375 and £375 to £750. The label price is set by the final sale price, so an auction that ends higher than expected can move into a higher band.

Which courier is cheapest on eBay UK?

Leaving all couriers on gives the lowest home delivery price in every band. Click & Collect through Evri or InPost is cheaper still, from £2.26.

Can I choose Royal Mail only?

Yes, in your Postage Preferences. Choose Royal Mail only if you want a free home collection. It costs more: a 1-2kg medium parcel under £75 is £5.15 instead of £3.71 with all couriers.

Can business sellers use Simple Delivery?

No. Simple Delivery is for private sellers. Business sellers set their own postage and can buy labels for Royal Mail, Evri, DPD, Yodel, InPost, UPS, DHL and Parcelforce through eBay, with the price shown before you pay.

What happens if a parcel is lost or damaged?

When you use the Simple Delivery label and post within your handling time, the full value of the item is covered against loss or damage from the courier scan to delivery. Late deliveries also do not count against your seller standards.

How current are these prices?

The prices come from eBay's Simple Delivery page in the UK Seller Centre and were checked on 15 September 2026. eBay shows the final price when you create the label.
