Seller questions

How much does Whatnot charge sellers?

In the US, Canada and Australia, Whatnot takes an 8% commission on the item's final sale price for most categories (4% for Coins and Money) plus a payment processing fee of 2.9% of the total order value plus $0.30. In the UK and EU the rates are 6.67% + VAT and 2.42% + €/£0.25 + VAT. There are no listing fees.

When do Whatnot sellers get paid?

In the US, Canada and Japan, earnings become available up to 4 hours after confirmed delivery. In the UK, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium and Australia, delivery must be confirmed and 96 hours must pass since the sale. In Germany it is 4 days after label generation. Sellers in the Early Payout program can access earnings as soon as they generate a shipping label.

How do I set up payouts on Whatnot?

Complete seller verification, then open Seller Hub, go to Payouts and add a payout method through Stripe Connect, Whatnot's payments partner. Start a payout any time you have an available balance. Payouts usually arrive in 1 to 2 business days, 2 to 3 in Australia and Japan, and 3 to 4 in Canada. PayPal is no longer offered as a new payout method.

How do I delete my Whatnot account?

Pay out any positive seller balance and make sure all orders are delivered and marked Completed. On whatnot.com, open Account Settings, select Account, click Delete Account, choose a reason and confirm Permanently Delete Account. In the app, go to Account, Preferences, Account Management, Delete Account. Deletion is permanent. Banned users must email support from their account email to delete.

What happens if my Whatnot seller account is suspended or banned?

While penalized you cannot go live, list, sell or use Seller Hub, but you must still fulfill orders placed before the action. Temporary suspensions end automatically, and you can pay out once access returns. For permanent bans, eligible balances are usually paid out 60 days after the action. Review the Account Health dashboard to see the violation and appeal if eligible.

How do returns and buyer issues work for Whatnot sellers?

Through Seller Provided Support, rolling out to all US sellers from September 1, 2026, buyer issues go to the seller's Inbox. Sellers should respond within two business days by giving a full refund, with or without a return, or other options. If a seller does not respond and the buyer escalates, Whatnot refunds the buyer and bills the amount back to the seller.

How do I contact Whatnot support?

Whatnot does not offer phone support. For a sold order, open Seller Hub, go to Orders, choose the order and tap Get help with this order. For account issues, open Account in the app, tap Contact Us and pick your issue. Whatbot, the virtual assistant, may answer first. You get a ticket number by email, and the team replies within 48 hours.

Will I get a 1099-K from Whatnot?

Whatnot issues Form 1099-K through Stripe to US sellers who cashed out with Stripe and met the federal or state reporting threshold. For 2025 earnings, forms were available via Stripe by January 31, 2026. Check your status under Tax Documents in Seller Hub. Sellers who cashed out only through PayPal get tax forms from PayPal. All sellers must report their earnings to the IRS.

Does Whatnot report EU, UK and Canadian sellers to tax authorities?

Yes. Under DAC7, Whatnot reports EU-resident sellers whose sales exceed €2,000 or who make 30 or more sales in a calendar year, sharing name, address, tax ID, bank details, sales and fees in January for the previous year. Whatnot also reports UK sellers to the Irish tax authority, which shares the data with HMRC. Similar rules apply to Canadian sellers.
