Seller questions

How much does it cost to sell on Ruby Lane?

Joining and listing items are free. Shops pay a $45 monthly fee, charged on the 1st, for unlimited items. Each sale has a service fee of 9.9% on the first $2,500, 5% on the next $5,000 and 2.5% above $7,500, so a $1,000 sale costs $99. PayPal charges its own processing fee in addition to Ruby Lane's fees.

How do I pay my Ruby Lane shop fees?

Shop fees are deducted automatically from your pre-funded Ruby Lane account when you have an amount due. Every shop must add a credit or debit card and sign up for AutoPay, which covers monthly fees and any seller fees or sales tax not collected through PayPal. You can fund the account with PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. Manage the card from your Shop Accounting page.

How do I close my Ruby Lane shop?

Log in and go to Shop Owners' Home, then Resources. Under Shop Tools, click Close My Shop. You do not need to remove items first, but all pending orders and offers must be completed. Your shop data may be kept for about 120 days in Preview mode, visible only to you and staff, though this is not guaranteed. Request any refund of unused fees at the time you close.

Do I get a refund of fees if I close my Ruby Lane shop?

Yes. If you close your shop permanently and have at least $1 of credit in your account, you can request a refund of the remaining balance, but you must ask when you close. Monthly maintenance fees are pro-rated if you close before the end of the month. Paid extras like Premium Featuring are not refundable. Refunds are usually sent through PayPal within 30 days once all transactions are resolved.

Can I charge a restocking fee on Ruby Lane returns?

No. Ruby Lane does not allow shops to charge a restocking fee on returned items. Sellers must follow the Ruby Lane Site Return Policy. When you refund a PayPal order, refund the item amount plus sales tax in PayPal and edit the order on Ruby Lane, and the sales tax and service fee are credited back, shown as a Partner Commission Reversal in PayPal.

Can I open a Ruby Lane shop if I am not in the United States?

Yes. Ruby Lane hosts shops from around the world, and you do not need to be located in the US to open one. International sellers follow the same shop creation process as US sellers. You can also run a Ruby Lane shop while selling on other sites, as long as you remove items from Ruby Lane promptly when they sell elsewhere.

Does my Ruby Lane shop still pay fees while on vacation?

Yes. Vacation Mode, turned on from the Shop Information section of Shop Owners' Home, shows a vacation message, but your shop stays open for browsing, orders and questions. Monthly shop fees are still due on the 1st, so keep enough funds in your shop account while you are away. Vacation Mode switches off automatically on the end date you choose.

How do shop owners contact Ruby Lane support?

Ruby Lane asks shop owners to check the Shop Owner Forums, the FAQ Knowledge Base, the accounting pages and the Selling Successfully page first, all reachable from Shop Owners' Home under Resources or Manage. If those do not answer your question, contact Customer Support by email using the link in that help article. A Site Status page for shop owners reports known problems.
