How to start selling
Apply through the OnBuy sell page and choose a subscription plan; the first month's subscription is paid as part of the application fee if accepted. Sellers must be businesses that can price products delivery duty paid and inclusive of VAT. UK sales are paid in GBP by OnBuy Ltd and EU sales in EUR by OnBuy (EU) Ltd.
Seller questions
OnBuy charges a monthly subscription fee and a Sales Fee on each sale. The Sales Fee is a percentage that depends on the product category and is applied to the listing price plus delivery costs. Extra fees can apply for refunds (20% of the refunded Sales Fee), customer disputes (GBP 6.50) and chargebacks (GBP 14.00). Optional costs include OnBuy Ads and Boost.
Either party can end the Seller Terms with 30 days written notice, which the seller gives through the Seller Control Panel. The subscription is a monthly rolling contract with no minimum commitment. Orders placed before termination must still be fulfilled, and any OnBuy Ads balance is forfeited when the account is terminated.
Customer payments are collected by OnBuy as commercial agent for the seller. Sellers can request a withdrawal of funds no later than 7 days after the end of the delivery timeframe, and OnBuy starts the payout by the end of the next business day. Money goes to the bank account given in the application, in GBP for UK sales and EUR for EU sales.
OnBuy can partly or fully restrict access to the Seller Control Panel if a seller does not pay what it owes, fails to dispatch orders on time, breaks the customer care rules, or when the terms end. With restricted access the seller can still manage live orders and invoices, but listings are hidden and customers cannot place new orders. Funds can be withheld if prohibited products are suspected.
When a customer is refunded, OnBuy returns the matching share of the Sales Fee but charges 20% of that refunded fee. The minimum is GBP 0.25 and the maximum is GBP 5.00 per refunded line item, or EUR 0.30 to EUR 6 for EU sales. For example, a GBP 20 refund on a 12% category costs GBP 0.48.
Sellers set prices on a delivery duty paid basis, inclusive of VAT. Where OnBuy is the deemed supplier for VAT purposes, it deducts the VAT from the payout before paying the seller. The monthly subscription fee is also subject to VAT where applicable, and OnBuy issues a VAT invoice for it.
Sellers raise support tickets in OnBuy's Support Centre, which is reached from the Seller Control Panel. The Seller Terms name sellersupport@onbuy.com as the email to use if the Support Centre is not working, for example to report that account login details were exposed.
