OfferUp charges no fees or commission on in-person sales, and posting is free within monthly limits: 200 free listings per month across most categories, with lower limits of 1 for Cars and Trucks and Motorcycles, 15 for Appliances and Cell Phones, and 25 for Furniture, Jewelry and Tools. Paid options include extra listings, category listing subscriptions, promotions, OfferUp Premium, and job and service listings, with prices shown in the app before purchase. OfferUp ended nationwide shipping: new listings have been local pickup only since 23 September 2025, so shipping service fees no longer apply to new sales.

How to start selling
Download the OfferUp app or use the website, create a free account and post your item with photos and a price. Meet local buyers at a public spot, such as a Community MeetUp Spot, and get paid in person before handing over the item.
Seller questions
OfferUp does not charge fees or take a commission on in-person transactions, and you do not need to buy anything to sell. Paid features are optional: promotions, extra listings beyond your free monthly allowance, listing subscriptions, OfferUp Premium, and job or service listings. The app shows pricing before any payment is taken.
No. OfferUp retired nationwide shipping to focus on local sales. From 23 September 2025 sellers could no longer choose shipping on new items, and from 21 October 2025 the shipping option was removed from existing items without an active offer or shipping transaction. In-progress shipped orders were completed as usual.
You get up to 200 free listings per month across most categories. Some categories have their own limits: 1 for Cars and Trucks, 1 for Motorcycles, 15 for Appliances, 15 for Cell Phones and Accessories, and 25 each for Furniture, Jewelry and Accessories, and Tools and Machinery. Free listings refresh on the first of each month and do not roll over.
For in-person sales, the buyer pays you on the spot after inspecting the item. Agree on the payment method before meeting. OfferUp says cash is safest; PayPal, Zelle or Venmo are convenient but carry some risk. Never accept checks, gift cards, wire transfers or cryptocurrency, and make sure you have the money before handing over the item.
No. In-person sales are final once payment is exchanged, and buyers can inspect the item before paying. You can choose to accept a return or exchange if a buyer asks, and OfferUp encourages it to protect your rating. If you accept returns, state the time frame and your availability to meet.
In the app, tap your profile picture, then Account Settings, Privacy Settings and Account Deactivation / Deletion. Choose a reason, then pick Deactivate Account to pause and keep your history, or delete permanently. On desktop, use the Account Deactivation page. Logging back in reactivates a deactivated account, unless OfferUp deactivated it for policy violations.
Accounts can be suspended or removed for breaking OfferUp's Community Guidelines or Posting Rules, such as posting prohibited items, creating misleading listings, trying to move transactions off the platform, or repeating violations after warnings. You may lose access to posting and messaging. If you think it was a mistake, contact OfferUp Support through the Contact Us form.
