Seller questions

How much does it cost to sell on Not On The High Street?

There is a one-off, non-refundable joining fee and no annual membership renewal fee. On each sale you pay a Single Commission Fee, a percentage of the product value including delivery charges. Not On The High Street tells you the exact joining fee and commission rate during the application; they are not published on its public pages.

Can I sell on Not On The High Street if I am not in the UK?

No. To apply, your business must be registered and trade from the UK or Northern Ireland. The marketplace reviews each application, so you also need to give links to images of the products you want to sell, through your website, social media or an online photo-sharing service. Applications without product images are not reviewed.

When do Not On The High Street sellers get paid?

Customers pay Not On The High Street, acting as your commercial agent. It pays you weekly, 15 to 21 days in arrears after you accept an order in the seller system, minus the commission fee, any service fee and any fulfilment fee. Payments are made in the currency of your nominated bank account, which may add a currency conversion fee.

How do I close my Not On The High Street shop?

The seller agreement runs for at least 12 months from when your storefront goes live. After that, you can end it with 30 days' notice. When the service ends you must pay all charges due, stay liable for customer refunds, and keep access to the seller system for 30 days to pay outstanding charges and download your information.

Why can a Not On The High Street storefront be suspended?

The marketplace can restrict, suspend or terminate a seller for breaching the agreement, including poor page presentation, non-compliant seller information, abusive communication or unpaid debts. A negative balance must be paid within 7 days. Except in legal or urgent cases, it emails a statement of reasons at least 30 days before termination, and sellers can respond through the complaints process.

Do I need insurance to sell on Not On The High Street?

Yes. The seller terms say you must keep appropriate business insurance at your own expense with reputable insurers, reviewed regularly, including at least £1 million Public and Products Liability insurance and £10 million Employers' Liability insurance. Check the full seller terms for all product safety, recall and record-keeping duties, which also apply to every seller.

Do I have to accept returns on personalised items?

Not On The High Street's seller terms treat some items differently for returns, including items made to a customer's specific requirements or personalised, perishable products such as food or flowers, creative pieces commissioned when ordered, and hygiene-sealed personal items once the seal is broken. Check the seller terms and returns policy for how each case is handled.
