Seller fees

Meta does not charge a listing or selling fee for an Instagram Shop. Since Meta ended checkout on Facebook and Instagram in 2025, buyers are sent to your own website to pay, so payment processing fees come from your ecommerce platform or payment provider, not from Meta. Paid ads to promote products are optional and billed separately through Meta Ads.

Checked 2026-09-14.

How to start selling

Switch to an Instagram professional (business or creator) account connected to a Facebook Page. Verify your website domain, create a product catalog in Commerce Manager or connect a platform such as Shopify, and submit your shop for review. Meta says review can take up to several weeks.

Seller questions

Can customers still buy inside Instagram?

No. Meta moved Facebook and Instagram Shops from in-app checkout to website checkout starting in June 2025, and most shops completed the switch by the end of August 2025. Shoppers can still browse your shop and tap product tags, but they finish the purchase on your own website. Meta no longer handles payment processing, order management or disputes for shops.

How much does Instagram Shopping cost?

Meta does not charge a fee to set up an Instagram Shop, list products or tag them in posts. Because checkout now happens on your website, your costs are your ecommerce platform subscription, your payment processor's card fees and any ads you choose to run. There is no Meta commission on sales that complete on your website.

What are the requirements to sell on Instagram?

You need an Instagram professional account connected to a Facebook Page, a business in a country where Shops are supported, and a website domain you own and verify. You must sell physical goods, follow Meta's Commerce Policies and Merchant Agreement, and represent your business accurately. Services, digital products and some restricted categories are not allowed in shops.

How do I get paid for Instagram Shopping sales?

Payments go through the checkout on your own website, so you are paid by your ecommerce platform or payment provider, such as Shopify Payments, Stripe or PayPal, on that provider's payout schedule. Meta no longer processes payments for shops. Check your payout timing and fees in the dashboard of the platform that runs your website checkout.

Who handles returns and customer service for Instagram Shop orders?

You do. Since orders are placed on your website, your own store's return policy, refund process and customer service apply. Meta no longer offers order management, post-purchase messaging or dispute resolution for shops. Make sure your return and shipping policies are clearly shown on your website, since this is also part of Meta's commerce eligibility checks.

Why was my Instagram Shop rejected or restricted?

Shops are reviewed against Meta's Commerce Eligibility Requirements and Commerce Policies. Common reasons include an unverified domain, a website without clear pricing, contact or return information, unsupported countries, or products Meta does not allow. You can see the status in Commerce Manager, fix the issues listed there and request another review.

How long does Instagram Shop approval take?

Meta reviews each shop after you submit it in Commerce Manager. Some accounts are approved in a day or two, while others take longer, and Meta says review can take up to several weeks. You can check progress in Commerce Manager and on the Shopping section of your Instagram settings. Reviews also happen again if Meta later detects a policy problem.
