Seller fees

Listing is free. When an item sells, Discogs charges a 9% selling fee on the item price plus shipping, with a minimum of $0.10 and a maximum of $150 per order (equivalent caps apply in other currencies, such as EUR 0.10 to EUR 150). VAT, GST or consumption tax is added to the fee in some countries. There is no subscription. The fee is deducted automatically from the buyer's payment through PayPal, shown as a Partner Fee, and PayPal charges its own separate processing fee.

Seller questions

How much does Discogs take when you sell?

Discogs charges a 9% selling fee on both the item price and the shipping cost, with a $0.10 minimum and a $150 maximum. Listing is free and there is no monthly fee. In some countries VAT or GST is added to the selling fee. PayPal also takes its own processing fee from each payment, separate from the Discogs fee.

How do I get paid on Discogs?

All Discogs sellers need a verified PayPal account connected through the PayPal payments solution. Buyers pay at checkout with PayPal, cards or some local methods, and the money goes to your PayPal account right away. The Discogs fee and any taxes are deducted at the moment of payment as a Partner Fee. E-check payments can take up to 6 business days to clear, so wait for Payment Received before shipping.

How do I close my Discogs account?

Use the account closure form linked in the Discogs help article. You cannot close an account while any orders as a seller are not set to Shipped, Cancelled or Merged, so check all orders, including archived ones, first. If your account is suspended, contact Discogs to close it. Closing removes your private data and cannot be undone, but public content like reviews and database submissions stays visible.

Why was my Discogs seller account suspended?

Common reasons are not responding to a Seller Not Responding report within four days, fee avoidance such as taking payment off platform, selling blocked or prohibited items, adding surcharges, drop-shipping, high cancellation rates or poor feedback. Check your Discogs Inbox for the notice. To ask for reinstatement, open a support request so staff can review your account. Linked accounts of a suspended user are suspended too.

Who handles returns and refunds on Discogs?

Sellers set their own return terms and must state in their Seller Terms who pays return shipping, or they will pay it by default. Discogs does not mediate disputes about condition or shipping, so unresolved issues go to the payment provider. Business sellers must follow EU and UK consumer rights. Refund through the Send Refund option on the order page so the selling fee and taxes are returned automatically.

Does Discogs charge VAT or collect taxes for sellers?

Discogs collects and remits tax on orders in certain places, including US marketplace facilitator sales tax and VAT on low-value imports into the UK and EU. It also charges VAT, GST or consumption tax on its own selling fee for sellers in places like the EU, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Sellers with a valid VAT number in most EU countries, the UK, Australia or New Zealand can avoid VAT on the fee.

What is the difference between a hobby seller and a business seller on Discogs?

A hobby seller lists items occasionally and does not rely on Discogs income. A business seller is linked to a registered business or shows signs such as a physical store, buying items to resell, or regular sales, for example $5,000 in revenue or more than 200 items a year. All sellers must choose their status in Seller Settings, and business sellers must provide extra details and follow consumer protection rules.

How do I contact Discogs support?

Discogs no longer accepts new tickets by email. Use the chatbot icon at the bottom right of the site, which can open a ticket if it cannot solve the issue, or click Submit a request at the bottom of any help article. Log in first so staff can find your account, and file only one request per issue. The community forums are another place to ask questions.
