How to start selling
Only professional sellers can sell on 1stDibs, and consumer-to-consumer listings are not allowed. Submit a seller application with at least two references who can confirm your business is in good standing. The in-house experts review your inventory and reputation, which can include sample requests, visits and social media checks, before approving you.

The monthly fee depends on the membership plan you choose. 1stDibs offers several plans: some have a low monthly subscription and a higher commission per sale, and others have a higher monthly fee and a lower commission. The Help Center does not list the plan prices, so the exact amounts are shared with sellers during the application process.
The commission is not a single fixed rate. It depends on the type of item, the item's price, your membership plan and your business type, for example a vintage and antiques dealer versus an individual artist. 1stDibs says the commission covers logistics support, competitive shipping rates, fraud and chargeback protection, and dispute help. Exact rates are not published in the Help Center.
Fill out the seller application and provide at least two references who can confirm you are a business in good standing with high-quality inventory. Experts in furniture, fine art, jewelry and fashion review each application. They may ask for samples, visit your workshop, check your social media and press coverage, and look at how you treat customers before approving you.
Not as casual sellers. 1stDibs only admits vetted sellers, meaning small businesses and professionals selected and approved by its in-house experts. It does not allow consumer-to-consumer listings. An individual who wants to sell must first apply and be approved as a vetted professional seller, for example as a dealer, gallery or maker.
Yes. Sellers must follow 1stDibs marketplace standards, and in-house experts audit a sample of listings for accurate representation. If a seller fails to meet a standard, 1stDibs contacts them to fix the issue. If the problem is not resolved to 1stDibs' satisfaction, the seller is removed from the marketplace.
Each seller sets their own return policy, shown in the Shipping and Returns section of every item page. Regardless of that policy, buyers in the EU and UK can return eligible items within 14 days of delivery. 1stDibs manages return shipping for all international returns and for domestic returns of furniture and fine art. Items that arrive damaged or not as described fall under the Money-Back Guarantee instead.
