Intuit announced on August 4, 2020, that it would buy TradeGecko for more than 80 million US dollars, and later renamed the product QuickBooks Commerce. In June 2022 Intuit stopped taking new customers and cut off users outside the US, and US users were offered a QuickBooks Online bundle. Intuit then said the standalone QuickBooks Commerce product would not be available after August 31, 2023. The product no longer exists, and the tradegecko.com domain no longer hosts it.

Intuit bought TradeGecko in 2020 for a reported 80 million US dollars and renamed it QuickBooks Commerce later that year. Intuit announced the retirement in June 2021 and stopped accepting new customers. In June 2022 the platform was retired, non-US customers lost access and US customers were offered a QuickBooks Online bundle. QuickBooks Commerce ended for everyone on August 31, 2023.
Intuit said the standalone QuickBooks Commerce inventory management product would be discontinued and would not be available for use after August 31, 2023. This applied to all remaining users, including US customers who had moved to the QuickBooks Online plus Commerce bundle. Users outside the US had already lost access in June 2022.
A QuickBooks community manager said Intuit made a strategic decision to discontinue QuickBooks Commerce as a standalone product and focus on building ecommerce features directly inside QuickBooks Online. Many former users were unhappy with how the change was communicated, especially customers outside the US who lost access first.
Intuit did not name a direct replacement. It pointed users to third-party inventory apps in the QuickBooks Online Apps marketplace and said QuickBooks Online's ecommerce connectors for Amazon, Shopify and eBay were not being discontinued. Former users moved to tools such as Cin7, Unleashed, Fishbowl or QuickBooks Online's own inventory features.

Intuit told users to go to the Gear icon, then Settings, then Data Exporter, and click Export Account Data, then download the CSV files; download links expired after one week. The product has not been available since August 31, 2023, so if you did not export your data, contact QuickBooks support, although recovery is unlikely.

Other inventory tools often considered include Zoho Inventory, inFlow, Ordoro and Order Time. Ecommerce sellers who mainly sell on eBay and other marketplaces may prefer multichannel tools such as 3Dsellers, Veeqo or Linnworks.
