Shopware is an ecommerce platform from Germany, used to build and run online stores for B2C and B2B businesses. It has a free open-source Community Edition that merchants host themselves, and paid plans called Rise, Evolve and Beyond that add unlimited sales channels, Shopware Intelligence AI tools, 3D capabilities, B2B components, advanced search, digital sales rooms, multi-inventory, customer-specific pricing, subscriptions and faster support. Shopware is a store platform rather than a marketplace tool. It has no built-in eBay or Amazon connection; merchants add marketplace sales through third-party plugins from the Shopware Store, such as magnalister. It is widely used in German-speaking countries, and many agencies build and maintain Shopware stores.

FAQ

How much does Shopware cost?

Shopware Community Edition is free and open source. Paid plans start at 600 EUR per month for Rise and 2,400 EUR per month for Evolve, excluding VAT, while Beyond is custom priced. The Intelligence+ AI add-on costs 19 to 29 EUR per month. Budget separately for hosting, paid extensions and agency development.

Is Shopware free?

The Shopware Community Edition is free to download and use. It includes the open-source core and modular architecture and is supported by the developer community rather than Shopware support staff. You pay for your own hosting and any paid extensions. Rise, Evolve and Beyond are paid plans with more features and support.

Does Shopware work with eBay and Amazon?

Not out of the box. Shopware does not include a built-in eBay or Amazon connector. Merchants add marketplace sales through third-party extensions in the Shopware Store, such as magnalister, which lists products and imports orders from eBay, Amazon and other marketplaces. Check each extension's pricing and supported Shopware version.

What is the difference between Shopware Rise, Evolve and Beyond?

Rise targets growing businesses with unlimited sales channels, Shopware Intelligence, 3D features and basic support with an 8 hour reaction time. Evolve adds B2B components, advanced search, dynamic access and phone support with 4 hour reaction. Beyond adds digital sales rooms, multi-inventory, customer-specific pricing, subscriptions, 24/7 priority support and a personal account manager.

How do I cancel a Shopware plan?

Community Edition has no subscription. For paid plans, check your contract and Shopware's General Terms and Conditions for the minimum term and notice period, then cancel through your Shopware Account or by contacting customer@shopware.com. Extension subscriptions bought in the Shopware Store may need to be cancelled separately.

How do I contact Shopware support?

Paid plan customers get support by plan level, from basic support on Rise to phone support on Evolve and 24/7 priority support with a personal account manager on Beyond. Community Edition users rely on the Shopware Community Hub, documentation and Discord community chat. Sales can be contacted from the pricing page for Evolve and Beyond.

What are the alternatives to Shopware?

Other ecommerce platforms include Shopify, Adobe Commerce (Magento), WooCommerce, BigCommerce, PrestaShop, commercetools and JTL-Shop. For German B2B merchants, Shopware is often compared with Adobe Commerce and JTL. Sellers who mainly sell on eBay may prefer a platform or multichannel tool with built-in eBay listing and order sync.
