Royal Mail Click & Drop

Click & Drop is Royal Mail's online shipping tool for UK senders.

Click & Drop is Royal Mail's online shipping tool for UK senders. You can pay for postage online, create and print labels, and import orders from connected sales channels such as eBay, Amazon, Etsy, Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento and notonthehighstreet. There is no charge to open an account; you pay for postage. It works for pay-as-you-go senders, who pay by card or PayPal, and for Online Business Account (OBA) customers, who post on account and get extra tools such as manifests, collections and more service codes. FAQ

Is Royal Mail Click & Drop free?

Yes, there is no charge to open or use a Click & Drop account. You pay only for the postage on each label, and a ShopWired guide notes there is no extra charge above what you would pay at a Post Office. Royal Mail also says registering for an account can save money against standard prices, and labels can be printed free at Lockers, Parcelshops or Delivery Offices.

How do I connect my eBay account to Click & Drop?

In Click & Drop, go to Settings, click Go in the Integrations section, then Add new integration and choose eBay. Check your trading name, select your eBay country, and click Save and connect. Sign in to eBay and click Agree. The status icon turns from red to green, usually within a minute. You need a separate integration for each trading name and each eBay country store.

Does Click & Drop upload tracking numbers to eBay?

Yes. For eBay integrations, the 'Mark orders as despatched on Channel' setting is switched on and is mandatory. When you mark orders as despatched, Click & Drop sends tracking details to eBay and updates the order status. Royal Mail tries this every 30 minutes between 09:00 and 17:00 and every 105 minutes overnight. New eBay orders are imported roughly every 15 to 30 minutes.

Why are my eBay orders not importing into Click & Drop?

The most common cause is an expired connection. eBay authorisation codes are valid for one year, so check the Connection expires column on the Integrations page and reconnect on that date. Orders must also be in Awaiting Shipment or Awaiting Dispatch status and no older than 7 days to import. Imports normally run every 15 to 30 minutes but can sometimes take longer.

What is the difference between an OBA account and online pay-as-you-go postage?

Pay-as-you-go senders apply postage to each order and pay by card or PayPal before printing the label. Online Business Account (OBA) customers pay on account at their agreed rates and get extra tools in Click & Drop, such as manifests, collections and business service codes. Royal Mail says an account saves on standard prices and suggests a business parcels account if you send over 20 parcels a week.

How do I close or delete my Click & Drop account?

Log in, click My account and choose the Delete Account tile. Read the notice, click 'Delete your account and all associated data', tick the confirmation box, enter your password and confirm. You receive a confirmation email, other users on the account are notified, and you have 14 days to reverse the decision. This removes your data, so export any order reports you need first.

How do I contact Click & Drop support?

Royal Mail's help centre lists email support at clickanddropsupport@royalmail.com and phone support on 0345 2661 004, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. Before contacting them, you can check the service status page at clickanddrop.statuspage.io for known problems with labels, payments or manifests. Guides for orders not importing and other connection issues are in the help centre's Integrations section.

Should I use Click & Drop or buy postage labels on eBay?

eBay UK lets sellers buy labels directly on eBay from Royal Mail, Parcelforce, Evri, DPD, Yodel, InPost, UPS and DHL, and all of these services are tracked. eBay says its labels cost less than buying directly from most carriers, and it can email a QR code for printer-free drop-off. Click & Drop suits sellers who also ship orders from other channels, because it imports orders from several stores into one place.

What are the alternatives to Royal Mail Click & Drop?

UK eBay sellers can buy labels directly on eBay, including bulk non-Royal Mail labels through Packlink. Multichannel shipping and order tools such as Veeqo, ShipStation and Linnworks also print labels for several carriers, not just Royal Mail. When comparing, check carrier choice, postage rates, whether tracking syncs back to eBay automatically, and whether you need a Royal Mail business account to get lower rates.
