LOCATE Inventory

LOCATE Inventory is cloud software for managing inventory and workflows in mid-market businesses that hold stock. It was built in Southern California by New Tack, Inc. It covers inventory, purchasing, sales orders, parts and manufacturing, mobile warehouse work and reporting, and it syncs accounting data to QuickBooks and Xero. Xero announced its acquisition of LOCATE in November 2021.

LOCATE Inventory includes inventory tracking, sales order and purchasing management, parts and manufacturing workflows, and mobile warehouse functions. It also has reporting, summarized accounting sync with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and Xero, and an open RESTful API for custom connections. Built-in connectors for ecommerce platforms, marketplaces and shipping carriers are included with the subscription.

Xero said it would embed LOCATE's inventory and ecommerce talent and capability to build a new cloud inventory solution for small businesses, accountants and bookkeepers. The plan was to track inventory in real time across multiple locations and channels, launching to US customers first. The total deal, including employee incentives, was valued at US$19 million, paid partly in cash and partly in Xero shares.

Not directly. LOCATE's integrations page lists built-in connectors for Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento, Volusion, Walmart Marketplace, Fulfillment by Amazon, ChannelAdvisor and Sellbrite. For eBay, customers can connect through Zapier or other channel aggregators rather than through a native eBay integration built by LOCATE. Sellers who need eBay should check how the chosen aggregator syncs listings, stock and orders.

LOCATE's built-in integrations include QuickBooks Online and Desktop and Xero for accounting, Authorize.Net, Stripe, Payflow by PayPal and Square for payments, and TaxJar and Taxify for sales tax. Shipping connectors cover UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, Endicia, Shippo, Freightview and ShipStation. All of these integrations are included with the subscription.
