LOCATE Inventory was a cloud inventory and workflow management system for mid-market, inventory-based businesses, built in Southern California by New Tack, Inc. It combined ERP-style inventory features with purchasing, sales orders, parts and manufacturing, mobile warehouse tools, reporting and a RESTful API, and it synced summarized accounting to QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and Xero. Built-in connectors covered Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento, Walmart Marketplace, Fulfillment by Amazon, ShipStation, UPS and FedEx. It had no direct eBay integration; its integrations page said eBay could be reached through Zapier or channel aggregators. Xero announced it was acquiring LOCATE on November 10, 2021, stopped new sign-ups, and ended the product on October 10, 2022. LOCATE Inventory is no longer available.

On November 10, 2021, Xero announced it was acquiring LOCATE Inventory. LOCATE said its existing inventory management products would not be available after October 10, 2022. It stopped taking new customers, supported existing customers until that date, and offered to help them move to another solution. The locateinv.com website no longer loads.
Xero said it would embed LOCATE's inventory and ecommerce talent and capability to build a new cloud inventory solution for small businesses, accountants and bookkeepers. The plan was to track inventory in real time across multiple locations and channels, launching to US customers first. The total deal, including employee incentives, was valued at US$19 million, paid partly in cash and partly in Xero shares.
Not directly. LOCATE's archived integrations page lists built-in connectors for Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento, Volusion, Walmart Marketplace, Fulfillment by Amazon, ChannelAdvisor and Sellbrite. For eBay, it said customers could connect through Zapier or other channel aggregators rather than through a native eBay integration built by LOCATE.
LOCATE's built-in integrations included QuickBooks Online and Desktop and Xero for accounting, Authorize.Net, Stripe, Payflow by PayPal and Square for payments, and TaxJar and Taxify for sales tax. Shipping connectors covered UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, Endicia, Shippo, Freightview and ShipStation. The page said all of these integrations were included with the subscription.
Several inventory vendors offered help after the shutdown was announced. Versa Cloud ERP offered former LOCATE customers their first year of its base system free, with a one-time US$4,500 fee for migration support plus fees for any customization. These offers date from the 2021 to 2022 transition period and may no longer apply today.
Before the shutdown, LOCATE customers could submit tickets or feature requests to the support team, browse help docs covering LOCATE's modules and features, and read documentation for its RESTful API. Those resources lived on the locateinv.com site, which no longer loads, so they are now only available as partial copies in the Wayback Machine.
Vendors that reached out to former LOCATE customers include Turbo Inventory, Versa Cloud ERP and Order Time. Other cloud inventory tools that connect to QuickBooks or Xero include Cin7, Fishbowl and Katana. Sellers who mainly need eBay listing and order management across several sales channels can also look at 3Dsellers.
