Codisto

Codisto was a marketplace connector that linked online stores to eBay, Amazon and Walmart.

Codisto was a marketplace connector that linked online stores to eBay, Amazon and Walmart. Merchants used it to list products from Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce or Magento stores on marketplaces and to sync inventory and orders back to the store. Shopify acquired the business and in 2023 relaunched the Shopify app as Shopify Marketplace Connect, which Shopify now develops and supports. The codisto.com domain now redirects to the Marketplace Connect listing in the Shopify App Store. Marketplace Connect works only with Shopify stores and currently connects to Amazon, eBay, Walmart (US only) and Target Plus (US only). New Etsy connections are not available. Merchants on other store platforms who used Codisto need a different connector.

FAQ

What happened to Codisto?

Codisto was acquired by Shopify, and its Shopify app was relaunched as Shopify Marketplace Connect, announced in Shopify's Summer Edition '23. The app is now controlled and supported by Shopify instead of the original Codisto team. The Shopify App Store listing says the app was formerly known as Codisto, and visiting codisto.com now redirects to that listing. The old Codisto terms page names Shopify Inc. as the service provider.

Is Codisto still available?

Not under the Codisto name. The product continues as Shopify Marketplace Connect, which is listed in the Shopify App Store and supported by Shopify. It only works with Shopify stores, so it is not an option for sellers on WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix or Squarespace. Sellers who used Codisto with another store platform need a connector that supports their platform.

How much does Shopify Marketplace Connect cost?

Shopify Marketplace Connect is free to install. The first 50 marketplace-synced orders each month are free. After that, Shopify charges a 1% fee on each additional synced order, and the total is capped at USD 99 per month. Connecting accounts and listing products does not carry a separate charge. All app charges are billed in USD through your Shopify bill.

Which marketplaces does Marketplace Connect work with?

Shopify Marketplace Connect links a Shopify store to Amazon, eBay, Walmart and Target Plus. Walmart and Target Plus are available in the United States only. Etsy was supported earlier, but Shopify's help center says new Etsy connections can't be made at this time. You can sell in any region and currency available on the chosen marketplace, and the app handles currency conversion.

How do I cancel or disconnect Marketplace Connect (formerly Codisto)?

In Shopify admin, go to Apps > Marketplace Connect > Settings. Under Accounts, click the marketplace account name, click Disconnect account and confirm. To remove the app completely, go to Settings > Apps, click the app, open the menu icon and choose to uninstall it. Shopify recommends having only one marketplace connector app connected, so disconnect and uninstall an old connector before switching to a new one.

How do I export my product data after leaving Codisto or Marketplace Connect?

Marketplace Connect does not document a separate export tool, but your product catalog lives in Shopify. To export it, go to Products in Shopify admin, click Export, choose which products to include, pick a CSV format and click Export products. Small exports download in the browser, while larger files are emailed to you. Marketplace orders that were synced stay in your Shopify admin.

What do I need before connecting a marketplace?

Shopify lists four requirements before you connect a marketplace in Marketplace Connect: a verified seller account on that marketplace, store policies that are visible on the marketplace, a payment method set up to receive marketplace payments, and shipping rates configured. Requirements vary by marketplace, so check the specific rules for eBay, Amazon, Walmart or Target Plus before connecting.

How do I contact Marketplace Connect support?

Support for Marketplace Connect is provided by Shopify, not the former Codisto team. Shopify's help center directs merchants to use the chat feature inside the Marketplace Connect app in Shopify admin. Shopify also publishes setup, requirements, product and order management guides for the app in the Shopify Help Center under the marketplace sales channels section.

What are alternatives to Codisto?

LitCommerce's comparison of Marketplace Connect alternatives names LitCommerce, Sellbrite, CedCommerce, Linnworks, Multiorders, Rithum (formerly ChannelAdvisor), M2E Cloud and Vendoo. For eBay-focused listing, inventory, order and customer message management, 3Dsellers is another option. Check which store platforms and marketplaces each tool supports, and disconnect your old connector first to avoid duplicate syncing.
