eBay Error 21916281: To list this item, you need to accept PayPal or other approved electronic payments as a payment method.

Returns & Payment Policy
Copy link

This category requires an electronic payment method. Add one to the payment policy and republish.

Why this happens

For this eBay Category or product, you must accept digital payments. Why eBay enforces this: For some categories, eBay requires buyers to pay electronically so the payment is protected. A payment policy without an electronic method is refused. When it usually happens: It appears on accounts that still use offline-only payment templates.

Example Wrong Settings

Payment policy with money order only.

Example Correct Settings

Payment policy with eBay managed payments.

How to fix it

  1. Edit the payment policy in eBay Seller Hub and enable an electronic payment method (managed payments or PayPal).
  2. Refresh policies in 3Dsellers and assign the policy to the listing.
  3. Publish again.

How to prevent it

Keep every payment policy on eBay managed payments and only add offline methods where the category allows them.
