Why this happens

eBay refuses to move this listing to another category. This happens when the listing has sales, bids or offers, is in a promotion, or when the new category is restricted for your account. Why eBay enforces this: eBay keeps a listing's category fixed once there is buying activity or a promotion, because moving it would change fees, search placement and buyer protections in the middle of a sale. When it usually happens: It usually appears during bulk category re-mapping, when some listings in the batch already have sales, bids or open offers.

Example Wrong Settings

A bulk category update is applied to a listing that has already sold units.

How to fix it

  1. Keep the current category on the live listing.
  2. To change it, end the listing and relist it from 3Dsellers in the new category.
  3. If a bulk category change caused this, exclude listings with sales or open offers.

How to prevent it

Filter bulk category changes to listings with no sales or offers, and apply new categories to the rest when they are relisted.

Example Correct Settings

Listings without sales are moved; listings with sales keep their category until they are relisted.
