Why this happens

eBay does not allow the primary category to be changed on this listing, typically because the listing has sales, bids, pending offers, or is part of a promotion, or because the change moves it into a restricted category. Why eBay enforces this: eBay does not let the primary category change on a listing with sales, bids, offers or an active promotion, because fees and search placement depend on it. When it usually happens: It appears in bulk category updates on inventory-based listings that already have sold quantity.

How to fix it

  1. Keep the current category on the live listing.
  2. To change it, end the listing and relist it from 3Dsellers in the new category.

How to prevent it

Filter category changes to listings without sales or offers, and plan category moves at relist time.
