The item cannot be listed or modified. The title and/or description may contain improper words, or the listing or seller may be in violation of eBay policy.

eBay blocked the listing because the title, description or template contains words or content that violate a policy, or the account is restricted.

Why this happens

1) The changes you are making include words, info, or phrases that are not allowed on eBay, or — 2) eBay has restricted selling your account. Why eBay enforces this: eBay scans titles, descriptions and templates for banned items, restricted claims, contact details and off-eBay links. When a match is found, the listing is blocked to protect buyers and keep sales on the platform. When it usually happens: It is common with auto parts (airbags, seat belt tensioners), health claims, weapons accessories, and templates that include an email address, phone number or a link to another store. On eBay's local sites this error reads as follows. German: Der Artikel kann weder eingestellt noch bearbeitet werden. Die Artikelbezeichnung und/oder -beschreibung enthalten unter UmstĂ€nden unzulĂ€ssige Begriffe oder das Angebot verstĂ¶ĂŸt gegen die eBay-GrundsĂ€tze.

How to fix it

  1. Read the full error text. eBay usually names the policy (for example airbags, weapons, medical claims, contact details in the description).
  2. In 3Dsellers, open the listing and check the title, subtitle, description and the Listing Designer template for the flagged words, links, email addresses or phone numbers.
  3. Remove or rephrase the content and publish again.
  4. If the listing is clean, log in to Seller Hub and check for a selling restriction on the account, then follow eBay's instructions.

How to prevent it

Keep contact details and external links out of Listing Designer templates, avoid medical or safety claims, and check eBay's restricted items list before listing a new product type.
