Invalid variation specific Parameters: [variation option label] is not allowed as a variation specific.

The variation attribute name is also a required item specific of the category. Rename the attribute.

Why this happens

One of the variation specific names (such as color, size, etc.) is also a required Item Specific for the main listing. Why eBay enforces this: An attribute that is a required item specific for the category cannot also be a variation name, because the listing would have two conflicting values. When it usually happens: It usually appears in categories that require Color or Features as a main item specific.

Example Wrong Settings

The eBay category requires a "Color" Item Specific, and you also use "Color" as a variation specific.

How to fix it

  1. In 3Dsellers, open the Variations tab and rename the attribute named in the error (for example "Style" instead of "Features").
  2. Set the required item specific on the main listing instead.
  3. Publish again.

How to prevent it

Name variation attributes differently from required category specifics, for example Style Options.

Example Correct Settings

Instead of "Color" for variation specifics, one may use "Product Color" or something similar.

The same item specific is used both as a variation attribute and on the main listing. Remove it from one of them.

The variation attribute name is a reserved eBay word (Quantity, Price and similar). Rename the attribute.

The item specific [item specific name] is missing. Add [item specific name] to this listing, enter a valid value, and then try again.
A required item specific (named in the error) is missing. Add a value or "Does not apply" and republish.
