Why this happens

The category or product requires a known UPC if used, but eBay does not recognize the UPC. Why eBay enforces this: eBay checks UPCs against its product database. A UPC with a wrong check digit or one eBay does not know is refused in categories that validate it. When it usually happens: It usually appears when UPCs were retyped or lost digits in a spreadsheet.

How to fix it

  1. Check the UPC against the product packaging; a single wrong digit makes it invalid.
  2. In 3Dsellers, open the listing's Item Specifics and correct the UPC, or clear it (or use "Does not apply").
  3. If you want to keep the number for search, add it to the description or a custom specific such as "Original UPC".
  4. Publish again.

How to prevent it

Store barcodes as text in spreadsheets so leading zeros are kept.
