Why this happens

The eBay category or product restricts the format you can use for the Item Specifics value. Why eBay enforces this: Numeric item specifics are used for range filters in search. eBay requires digits only, so text like 'three' or '3 bulbs' is refused. When it usually happens: It usually appears in lighting, electronics and home categories after imports from other stores.
