Why this happens

The Item Specific in question has a maximum limit of 65 characters and the data entered exceeds this amount. Why eBay enforces this: Each item specific value is limited to 65 characters so it fits eBay's filters. Longer text is refused rather than cut. When it usually happens: It usually appears when several part numbers are joined into one value, or a sentence is used instead of a short value. On eBay's local sites this error reads as follows. German: Der Wert „…“ für … ist zu lang. Geben Sie einen Wert mit maximal 65 Zeichen ein.

How to fix it

  1. Read the item specific name in the error.
  2. In 3Dsellers, open the listing's Item Specifics and shorten that value to 65 characters or fewer. Long lists belong in the description, not in a specific.
  3. Publish again.

How to prevent it

Split long values into several short values, and keep sentences in the description.
