Why this happens

Carriers charge by dimensional (volumetric) weight for large, light boxes. Based on the package dimensions in the listing, the dimensional weight is above the limit of the selected shipping service. Why eBay enforces this: Carriers charge large, light boxes by dimensional weight, calculated from the dimensions. When that value exceeds the service limit, eBay cannot offer the service. When it usually happens: It usually appears on bulky but light items, such as pillows or lampshades, or on dimension typos.

Example Wrong Settings

A 30 x 30 x 30 in. box (dimensional weight about 195 lb) with a USPS Priority Mail shipping service.

How to fix it

  1. In 3Dsellers, verify the package dimensions; a typo (for example 300 instead of 30) is the usual cause.
  2. If they are right, assign a shipping policy whose service supports large packages (ground or freight).
  3. Publish again.

How to prevent it

Use the smallest box that fits, and double-check dimensions for bulky products.
