Why this happens

The listing is missing Return settings, or eBay is rejecting the current Return Policy. (eBay requires particular Return settings for some categories and products) Why eBay enforces this: eBay requires clear return terms, and some categories need returns accepted. eBay refuses listings whose return settings are missing or break the category rules. When it usually happens: It usually appears when a 'no returns' policy is used in categories that require returns, or when return policy IDs from another site are imported. On eBay's local sites this error reads as follows. German: RĂŒckgabeoption fehlt oder ungĂŒltig. Aktualisieren Sie Ihre RĂŒckgabeoptionen.

Example Wrong Settings

A particular electronics category requires at least 30-day returns, but the current policy only allows 14-day returns.

How to fix it

  1. In 3Dsellers, open the listing and check the return policy assignment.
  2. Assign an existing policy that accepts returns (30 days is the safe default). Some categories require returns to be accepted.
  3. For CSV imports, check that the return policy ID exists on the same eBay site.
  4. Publish again.

How to prevent it

Use a 30-day returns-accepted policy as your default, and keep return policy IDs site-specific in import files.
