You must have a valid PayPal Account in good standing to require immediate payment.

Immediate payment needs a valid PayPal (or managed payments) account in good standing on the eBay account.

Why this happens

eBay is rejecting the payment method for immediate pay due to a missing PayPal account, or eBay account limitations. eBay may deny particular payment methods if your account is restricted, or if a PayPal/ accepted payment processor is not set up on your eBay account. Why eBay enforces this: Requiring immediate payment means eBay collects payment at checkout. The account must have a working electronic payment setup in good standing, otherwise eBay cannot enforce it. When it usually happens: It appears on accounts with payout problems or limitations, and on old listings still set up with PayPal-only payments.

Example Wrong Settings

Listing requires immediate payment while the account's payouts are on hold.

How to fix it

  1. In eBay Seller Hub check Payments for warnings and make sure payouts are set up.
  2. If the account is fine, turn off the immediate-payment requirement in the payment policy and republish.
  3. Check eBay Messages for any account limitation notice and resolve it.

How to prevent it

Keep payout details current in Seller Hub, and remove immediate-payment settings from listings on accounts with a limitation.
