Despite the name, this usually means an item specific value is in the wrong format. The rest of the message names the field.

Why this happens

Despite the name, eBay usually returns this when an item specific value does not match the format eBay expects, for example a range field such as Device Charging Range that must be written as min-max with limited decimals. Why eBay enforces this: eBay returns 'Unknown Error' when a value fails a validation rule that has no dedicated code. For item specifics with a strict format, such as ranges or measurements, this is the usual cause. When it usually happens: It appears most often in electronics and appliance categories with numeric range specifics, after importing values written as text.

Example Wrong Settings

Device Charging Range is "up to 50W" instead of "5-50".

How to fix it

  1. Read the full error text; it names the item specific and the format eBay expects (for example a min-max range with limited decimals).
  2. In 3Dsellers, open the listing's Item Specifics and rewrite the value in that format.
  3. Publish again. If the message gives no field name, retry after a few minutes; eBay occasionally returns it for a passing outage.

How to prevent it

Use eBay's suggested values in item specifics wherever possible, and keep numeric specifics free of units and words.
