eBay is holding the listing until a payment method is on file or an unpaid balance is settled. Fix it in Seller Hub Payments.

Why this happens

eBay is requiring that you make a payment or set up payment settings before publishing or editing this item. Why eBay enforces this: eBay charges insertion, final value and promotion fees to a payment method on file. If there is no valid method or an unpaid balance, eBay stops new listings and edits until billing is sorted. When it usually happens: It often appears after a card expires, a bank account is removed, or monthly fees exceed the card's limit.

Example Wrong Settings

The card on file for seller fees expired last month, so eBay could not charge the invoice.

How to fix it

  1. Log in to eBay Seller Hub and open Payments.
  2. If there is an unpaid balance, pay it. If no payment method is on file, add a card or bank account for seller fees.
  3. Wait a few minutes for eBay to update the account status.
  4. In 3Dsellers, open the listing and publish (or revise) it again.

How to prevent it

Turn on automatic payments for eBay fees and update the card before it expires.

Example Correct Settings

A valid card or bank account is on file and automatic payment of seller fees is on.
