The length of the description has exceeded the maximum limit.

The description (including template HTML) is over eBay's size limit. Trim the template or content and republish.

Why this happens

The eBay description has too much content. With HTML code formatting included, eBay will allow up to 10,000 characters in a listing description. Why eBay enforces this: eBay caps the description size to keep pages fast on mobile and to limit abuse. The limit counts every character of HTML, including styles and hidden code, not just the visible text. When it usually happens: It usually appears with heavy HTML templates, descriptions pasted from web pages with inline styles, or templates that repeat the same block several times. On eBay's local sites this error reads as follows. German: Die LĂ€nge der Beschreibung ĂŒberschreitet die zulĂ€ssige LĂ€nge. Italian: La lunghezza della descrizione ha superato il limite massimo.

How to fix it

  1. In 3Dsellers, open the listing. If it uses a Listing Designer template, switch to a lighter template or remove heavy blocks (galleries, repeated sections).
  2. Check the description HTML for duplicated content or pasted styling and clean it.
  3. Publish again.

How to prevent it

Use lightweight templates, avoid pasting web page HTML, and preview the HTML size of a template before applying it to many listings.
